About the Tour Itself
What type of bikes are generally used?
Road Bikes though if you are confident you are able to cover the distances described in each tour and manage comfortably you are more than welcome to bring another type of bike.
Will Voyager supply me with a bike?
As we cover fairly long distances with a good amount of climbing involved, we choose not to provide a bike rental service. We have found over the years it is far better to bring your own trusty steed along ensuring you are at your most comfortable.
When I arrive will Voyager assemble my bike for me?
Indeed. Our professional Bike Mechanic will assemble your bike and help to pack it securely during our car transfers and in readiness for your final departure.
Should I bring along spare tubes?
Always a good idea. We will not always be close to a bike shop though when we are we will make sure you are given the opportunity to replenish your supplies.
Should I bring my own ride food?
Through our years of experience we have found preferences to be very personal. It is best to bring along your own preferred power bar or whatever type of ride food works best for you. We make regular trips to local stores where you can buy fresh fruit and cakes.
What level of fitness do I need?
All of our tours cover long distances (approximately 100km average per day). This could mean a daily ride of anywhere from 90km to 150km over a three week period. A reasonable level of fitness is required though there is no pressure on you to race up the mountains aiming for this years PB!
What kind of on-road support will there be?
A team car remains with the group at all times progressing up the mountain stages at regular intervals, waiting for the last person to pass and notifying them before they proceed to the top .
Am I able to get in the car if I feel too tired to finish a ride?
Absolutely! Don't be shy!
What if I have a mechanical problem on the road? I'm not a Bike Mechanic!
A professional Bike Mechanic is present during all rides and will take care of any hiccup along the way, whether it be changing a tyre or fixing a chain. You'll be on your way in no time.
What if I get left behind?
We don't leave anybody behind. The group remains together until we reach the climb where you are then free to go at your own pace. Whether you wish to tear up the mountain hoping to be discovered by Team Lotto or wish to make one or two stops to take photo's, it is entirely up to you. Refer to our Riding Your Bike with Voyager for more information on how the rides are run.
I can see the distances we ride each day, can I see a detailed profile of the daily rides and a more intensive breakdown of our itinerary?
This information is contained within your 'Tour Bible' which outlines everything you need to know about the tour you have booked. This will be given to you approximately one month prior to your departure or once your final payment has been received.
What kind of gearing should I have on my bike?
We will advise you well in time according to your riding ability.
My partner doesn't ride. Can they come?
We have many non-cycling partners coming along with us each year. We have plenty of afternoon activities on offer and they are always welcome to take a seat in the team car to get some on-road shots of you riding your bike with magnificent scenery as the backdrop.
Why don't you include all lunches in the France tour?
Simply because there may be times when you wish to do your own thing and for you to have paid for every lunch would then have been a waste of your own money. When lunch is not included we will still be in the hotel lobby ready to explore alongside those that would like some company. With our Tour of Tasmania you will find our lunches are often out of our 'mobile cafe' as we are generally on the road at midday. We scout for beautiful locations along the way such as beaches or National Parks to set the atmosphere. I love the pics you took of me on holiday! Can I buy them?
No - they are our gift to you - no charge. |
